A 17-year-old was arrested on July 6, after he crashed into a parked vehicle in Elmont and struck a police car.

According to Nassau County police, officers tried to conduct a traffic stop at KellerAvenue and B Street, but the teenager did not pull over, and instead fled the intersection at a high rate of speed. He then struck a parked car, pushing into another parked vehicle, and when the police pulled behind the driver, he placed his car in reverse and struck the police car. Police said he then struck the parked car and police car once more before fleeing the scene.

The police officer sustained a contusion to his right shoulder and substantial pain to his neck and left shoulder. He was transported to a local hospital for treatment.

The teenage driver was then located a short time later at the intersection of Terry Plae and Gavrin Boulevard in Franklin Square, where he was placed under arrest.

He is charged with second-degree assault, third-degree criminal mischief, second-degree reckless endangerment, third-degree unlawful fleeing of a police officer in a motor vehicle, reckless driving and leaving the scene of an accident with an injury. He was scheduled to be arraigned on July 7.
