One of MS-13’s high-ranking lieutenants in the Hollywood Clique, Victor Lopez, was sentenced to 23 years to life on Feb. 11 for murder and conspiracy in connection with the death of Angel Soler, a Roosevelt teen who was once a student at Freeport High School, according to Nassau County District Attorney Madeline Singas. Lopez also conspired to kill a second person.

His sentencing follows that of fellow Hollywood Clique leader David Sosa-Guevara, also known as "Risky," 28, of Wyandanch. Sosa-Guevara was sentenced to 24 years to life in prison on Feb. 7 for his role in Soler’s murder. Sosa-Guevara pleaded guilty on Dec. 9, 2019, to murder and conspiracy charges.

According to Singas, Sosa-Guevara ordered the murder of 15-year-old Soler. Lopez oversaw the members of the Hollywood Clique in Nassau and Suffolk counties and directed enforcement within the gang subgroup. Acting with clique members, Lopez and his fellow gang members murdered Soler, who was killed on July 21, 2017. He admitted to luring Soler to the location.

Soler’s body was mutilated with machetes, and he suffered blunt force trauma to the head. He was left buried until his remains were discovered under cement on Oct. 19, 2017, in a remote wooded area in Roosevelt, just south of the Southern State Parkway.

Additionally, according to the district attorney, Sosa-Guevara, acting with others, including Lopez, planned the murder of an alleged MS-13 member who was believed to have been disloyal to the gang and ordered the movement of weapons to Maryland to carry out that murder.

“A 15-year-old boy was brutally murdered because this gang perceived this child as an enemy,” Singas said. “Today’s life sentence of this gang lieutenant and last week’s life sentence of the MS-13 clique’s leader has dealt a significant blow to this criminal organization. We will continue to fight against any resurgence of MS-13 with all our dedicated law enforcement partners until they are eradicated from Nassau County.

Lopez, also known as "Persa," 31, from Roosevelt, pleaded guilty on Dec. 11, 2019, before Judge Patricia Harrington to second-degree murder, second-degree conspiracy and fourth-degree conspiracy.
