Holiday giving at Innovative Daycare Corp.

Janna Rodriguez, owner and operator of The Innovative Daycare Corp. on Centre Street in Freeport, helped the children in her care to collect about 250 cans of nonperishable food and donated them to five area charities.

Ballers Club Kickz, an online business selling in-the-mode sneakers and accessories, partnered with Innovative Daycare for the collection.

Rodriguez herself ferried the bags and boxes to St. Mary of the Isle Catholic Church in Long Beach, Terena William Glory House Inc. in Hempstead, and three locations in Freeport: Long Island Cares, EOC-Nassau, and Our Holy Redeemer R.C. Church.

To accompany the donations, the school-aged children who come to Innovative Daycare after school made a brief video of holiday greetings.

“We teach the children at our facility about the importance of helping within our communities,” Rodriguez said. “In collaboration with Ballers Club Kickz, we were able to donate to five locations on Long Island and would like this to become a tradition.”
