70-year old man struck and killed by car in East Meadow

A 70-year old man was struck and killed by a car while attempting to cross Bellmore Avenue in East Meadow on Jan. 11 at 5:45 p.m., according to police.

Surgit Singh was walking westbound at the intersection of North Jerusalem Avenue when a 2015 Mercedes Benz, that was heading south, struck him and caused multiple injuries.

Singh was treated by advanced medical technicians from East Meadow Fire Department’s Rescue 5 and transported in unit 615 to Nassau University Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead by a physician at 6:18 p.m. Police did not say where Singh lived.

The male driver, who police did not identify, stayed at the scene of the incident and his vehicle was brake and safety checked.

The Nassau County Homicide Squad is investigating the incident.
