Glen Cove Library happenings

Though the doors of Glen Cove Public Library may still be closed due to the pandemic, many services and classes are still available for Glen Cove residents.

Library Take Out

Like many restaurants, the Glen Cove Public Library started offering take-out on June 22 too, but with books, movies and other forms of media.

A request or hold can be placed over the phone at (516) 676-2130 or on the website www.glencovelibrary.org. Once the library sends a confirmation that the items are ready, an appointment for pickup will be scheduled. Curbside delivery will be available at the library Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

‘Summer Reading 2020: Imagine Your Story’

Even in a summer of social distance, summer reading will continue. The Glen Cove Public Library is using ReadSquared, an online system to log book titles and on June 1, kids and their families were able to start signing up through the library website and the ReadSquared app. On it, families can find reading lists curated by Glen Cove Public Library librarians and families can receive assistance finding ebook titles available on OverDrive.

Glen Cove Covid-19 Pandemic Project

The Glen Cove Public Library is collecting personal experiences and stories from the Covid-19 pandemic. This community-sourced project will document what it was like to live through these times for future generations.

Glen Cove residents can share their thoughts in written, audio and visual formats and there are three methods of contributing; sharing on social media by tagging @GlenCovePublicLibrary and using #GlenCovePandemicStories, sending stories told through writing, photography, audio or visual formats or participating in an oral history project designed to provide opportunities for diverse community members to contribute memories and perspectives of historical events.

Those ages 14 through 17 must have a guardian’s consent to participate in the project. The program is not for children aged 13 or younger.
