Hewlett-Woodmere School District offers free Covid testing

Posted

The Hewlett-Woodmere School District will offer free, voluntary Covid-19 PCR testing to all district students in grades pre-K to 12th on Tuesday, March 2 and Wednesday, March 3 at the Franklin Early Childhood Center Gym 2 from 6 to 8 p.m. The childhood center is at 1180 Henrietta Place in Hewlett.

The tests will be administered by Healthcare Logics, an organization that conducts on-site Covid testing through Northwell Labs. The district began testing employees in October and has used Healthcare Logics for staff testing since January. “Their service has been exemplary,” Superintendent Dr. Ralph Marino Jr., stated in a letter to parents.

The medical professionals will be administering oral swab PCR tests to students. The nasal swab test will not be used. All students must be accompanied by a parent or guardian, and they will be allowed to remain with the child. Positive results will be given by phone call or text as soon as they are received.

Regardless of health insurance status, there will be no cost to families for student testing. If your family has health insurance, please bring the insurance card and Healthcare Logics will work with your insurance company to complete all paperwork. No copay required.

Testing will be administered on a first come, first served basis, and appointments are not required. Please enter through the gym doors closest to the playground at Franklin Early Childhood Center. Healthcare Logics staff will be there to greet you.
