A homeless man was arrested on Thursday in Oceanside and charged in a burglary.

According to the Nassau County Police Department, John Masone, 52, was arrested at 10:29 a.m. after a 40-year-old woman heard glass breaking inside her home on Rugby Road and allegedly saw him exiting her house. The woman said that Masone was standing next to a broken bedroom window on her second-level balcony.

Upon seeing Masone, the woman called the NCPD and officers entered the residence and witnessed him trying to once again enter the house via the window. They placed him under arrest without incident outside on the balcony. No injuries were reported.

Police said a subsequent investigation revealed that Masone was also responsible for a burglary at China King restaurant, at 28-30 Brower Ave. in Oceanside, on April 26.

Masone is charged with two counts of third-degree criminal mischief, third-degree burglary and third-degree attempted criminal trespassing. He will be arraigned on Friday at First District Court in Hempstead.
