Sea Cliff residents enjoyed local shopping, vendors, live music, and community groups in a celebration at the village's heart.

"Celebrate Sea Cliff" was an afternoon of community connection and outdoor shopping on Sea Cliff and Roslyn Avenue.

Several locally owned businesses participated in the May 3 event.

My Beautiful Mess, a boutique store in the village, offered a raffle basket with $1,000 worth of gifts from local businesses.

K Diresta Collective, a custom-designed jewelry store; The Village Wine Merchant, a quality wine store; and Salon Solis, which offers a variety of beauty and spa services, were some of the many stores that contributed to the basket.

Local vendors, including Coco Coffee and Confections, Three Feathers, and Prometheus Welding, were also set up for residents during the afternoon. In addition, residents could meet local volunteer organizations, learn how to get involved, and discover new ways to stay connected year-round.

In addition, several Sea Cliff restaurants, including Fosters, Campground Beer and Coffee, and KC Gallaghers, were open for lunch and dinner during the day.

Sea Cliff offers numerous volunteer organizations, including the Friends of the Library, the Gold Coast Lions Club, the Mutual Concerns Committee, the Sea Cliff Beautification Committee, and the Civic Association.

The Sea Cliff Porch Pickers, a local band performing Americana, Country, Folk, Bluegrass, and generally with traditional bluegrass instruments such as the fiddle, banjo, mandolin, guitar, and bass, were one of the many groups contributing live music during the afternoon.

Live music could also be heard from local Sea Cliff bands at Pirie Park, at the intersection of Sea Cliff and Summit Avenue.

The Sea Cliff Library also hosted "Do You Know Your Gatsby?" from 2 to 4 p.m. Individuals had the opportunity to register on their own or as part of a team of up to four people.

Courtney Citko, the village business liaison, described the event as a beautiful day and a wonderful success. She also added that she plans on continuing to build momentum with more community events in the future.

“The energy throughout the business district was vibrant, with families, neighbors, and visitors all enjoying the shops, vendors, live music, and community groups,” she said. “It was a great reminder of how special our village is when we come together.”

The event is part of a larger effort on behalf of the village to increase commerce in Sea Cliff. Citko, who was appointed to her role last June by the Sea Cliff Board of Trustees, has been working on establishing an annual event calendar with Village Trustee Mark Sobel.

Sea Cliff Mayor Elena Villafane praised the collaboration between Citko and Sobel. She said the two “did a great job creating an inviting event highlighting our Retail community and all that is special about Sea Cliff.”
