A successful, socially distant 49th annual San Gennaro Feast in Island Park

The coronavirus couldn’t keep Sacred Heart Church in Island Park from celebrating the 49th annual San Gennaro Feast at Sacred Heart on Sept. 12.

Festivities were a little different this year, with social distancing encouraged and face masks a must. That didn’t stop the attendees from having fun and enjoying the celebration.

There was plenty of food and fun during the festivities despite a smaller crowd than past years. In keeping with tradition, the statue of St. Januarius, the festival’s namesake, was paraded through the streets and placed in front of Sacred Heart Church as congregants celebrated.
