Food donations pour in at Mount Sinai South Nassau

While local shops have had to limit business lately, they are no less in the giving spirit — perhaps even more so than ever before.

Health care workers at Mount Sinai South Nassau have seen a wealth of food donations from local businesses as they treat coronavirus patients.

“The unsolicited response has been overwhelming,” said Joe Calderone, the hospital’s senior vice president, corporate communications and development. “The generosity and concern of the community has lifted the spirits of our front line nurses, physicians and support staff who are on the front line against COVID-19 as they care for patients.”

Donations have come in from Sugarberry Bakery, Blue Moon Pizzeria, Flour Shoppe Café, Polka Dot Pound Cake, Bagel Boss, Long Island Bagel Café, F&L Deli, Massapequa Diner, Doughologist and many others, the Oceanside hospital indicated in several Tweets this week.

In addition, workers from Dees Nursery placed carnations on every car in the physician and employee parking lot on Tuesday to show their appreciation.
