Island Park students learn science in outdoor classroom

Francis X. Hegarty second graders recently enjoyed having their science class in the school’s outdoor classroom. While in the designated outdoor learning space, the students were tasked with exploring the outdoor classroom looking for examples of what is living and non-living.

The outdoor classroom is designed especially for the young learners and contains garden beds, a section with wooden cutouts that can be used for counting and wooden stumps for seating to create a forest setting for the students.
