Students at Lincoln Orens Middle School in Island Park attended an informative assembly as the No Place for Hate pledge was presented and explained. Some of the topics discussed included bullying, the rules of etiquette and several others.

Through the No Place for Hate club at Lincoln Orens, students share ideas and engage in planning activities. At the assembly, students participated in a competition on Blooklet, which tested their knowledge of bullying, different types of prejudice and being an upstander.

No Place for Hate is an initiative by the Anti-Defamation League to assist schools to improve school climate by creating an environment that is inclusive and that values student voices.

“We want everyone to get along with one another,” said Lincoln Orens Principal Dr. Hoffman. “If a student has an issue with a peer, we need to be aware of it so we can handle it in an appropriate manner.”

The students and staff at Lincoln Orens signed the pledge on cut-outs of hands, which will be displayed throughout the school building.
