Running to help disabled veterans in North Woodmere

Cedarhurst resident Jake Greenberg completed the Beit Halochem International 5Towns 5K in 18:31 to finish first in the Sept. 12 race at North Woodmere Park that returned live after a year hiatus because of the coronavirus pandemic.

Yosaif Krohn, from Far Rockaway, placed second with a time of 19.33 and Valley Stream’s Benjamin Malkin took third in 19.44. Esther Karfunkel, of Lawrence, captured fourth and was the first woman to cross the finish line in 20.12.

Proceeds of the run, which included a kids fun run and a family walk, benefits disabled Israeli military veterans. For more information and results, go to http://www.5towns5k.org/.
