Freeport man arrested for attempted sale of drugs

The Nassau County Police Department’s Major Case Bureau reported the arrest of a Freeport man on June 3 for the attempted sale of a controlled substance. 

According to the county Narcotics/Vice Squad detectives, Derek Stulsky, 37, was arrested as a possible dealer who sold drugs to a Freeport resident who died of a fatal overdose on June 2. 

Following the overdose, undercover detectives contacted Stulsky to purchase heroin from him at an undisclosed location in the Village of Freeport. After Stulsky accepted the payment, the detectives arrested him without incident. 

A subsequent investigation found that Stulsky was not in possession of any controlled substances at the time of arrest. 

Stulksy was charged with attempted criminal sale of a controlled substance. He was arranged on June 4, in Mineola.
