Hodge to announce city council candidacy Tuesday

Posted

James Hodge, a former board chairman of the Martin Luther King Jr. Center and well-known figure in Long Beach's Black community and political circles, will announce at Tuesday night's city council meeting that he will be a candidate for an open council seat later this year.

Three incumbent members — Karen McInnis, Liz Treston and Tina Posterli — have also announced plans to seek re-election.

The biggest surprise of the weekend is Hodge's announcement, which he first made at  Christian Light Missionary Baptist Church Sunday morning. He said later Sunday that he will provide more information at the Long Beach City Council meeting Tuesday night.
