Lynbrook historical odds & ends: Gold prospector meets an untimely end in 1898

Editors note: Lynbrook historical odds and ends is a column that takes a look back at some interesting facts and events in the village from over the years.

Wilbur Doxsey will start on Saturday for Alaska in search of gold.

Gloom has been cast over this village on news of Wilbur Doxsey. He drowned when the schooner Jane Gray sank near Vancouver.  The vessel was bound for the Klondike and was overcrowded with miners and mining equipment.
