Due to the rise in the number of residents and patients testing positive for Covid-19, Mount Sinai South Nassau is suspending patient visitation in the Emergency Department until further notice.

During this time, staff will keep visitors and companions updated on the condition and status their loved ones by phone. The only exceptions are for parents of pediatric patients and end of life.

The change is applicable to the Emergency Departmnts  in Oceanside and Long Beach. The change does not affect visiting rules for patients admitted to the main hospital, as visiting hours will remain 4 to 8 p.m. daily.

"Mount Sinai South Nassau remains committed to taking necessary precautions to provide the safest patient care environment possible throughout the hospital and to protect our patients, staff and visitors from the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic," representatives of the hospital wrote in a news release. "We appreciate the cooperation of our community and will continue to closely monitor our visitor policies."
