Long Beach police say a woman was found dead on the beach early Friday morning between Monroe and Lincoln boulevards. Police have identified the woman, but are honoring the family’s request to not release her name.

Officials say that the death seems to be non-criminal.

Police said they received a call from a jogger at 5:23 a.m. reporting that the body of a white female, between 40 to 50 years old, was found facedown on the beach wearing undergarments.

The woman was pronounced dead at the scene by the Long Beach Fire Department.

Police said detectives are currently investigating the incident. An LBPD spokesman, Sgt. Brett Curtis, said that the womanhad been in the water, but the cause of death had yet to be determined.

He said that investigators are awaiting the results of an autopsy that was expected to be performed on June 21.
