First Central Savings Bank comes to Lynbrook

On July 7, in front of their new branch at 303 Merrick Road, First Central Savings Bank held the grand opening for its ninth location aiming to bring back “banking the way it used to be, only better” in Lynbrook.

Dozens packed into the entrance area of the Pistilli Corporate Building, to celebrate the occasion with local officials like Mayor Alan Beach showing up for the ribbon cutting.

“We are a true community bank, so for us to serve a community such as Lynbrook really aligns to the mission is here at First Central Bank,” Executive Vice President and Chief Administrative Officer Michael Serao said.

In the first week of business, the bank saw 50 accounts opened and over $14 million put into it. Part of their mission of community-based banking has seen them bring back account opening gifts for those starting their first account with the bank.

Joseph Pistilli, the chairman of the bank’s board of directors, helped build the building which now bears his name back in the 1970s when it became home to Jamaica Savings Bank. Pistilli now owns the building and the main conference room in the bank’s first floor residence is dedicated to him.

“It’s a great feeling to bring a good thing to an area that truly needs the spirit and services of a true community savings bank,” Pistilli said. “And I think that our competition, which is very close by, needs to open their eyes and see what moved onto the block.”

As a gesture to new neighbors, First Central presented several Lynbrook organizations with $1,000 checks.
