After a car chase that began in Hewlett and ended in Lynbrook and involved the Nassau County and Lynbrook village police departments, two people were arrested, including a Hewlett resident at 1:20 a.m. on Jan. 30.

Fourth Precinct officers saw a 2014 Hyundai turn into the parking lot of 1346 Broadway without signaling. As officers tried to conduct a car stop the vehicle drove off heading east on Noel Avenue, police said. The officers then saw the car in the driveway of a house on Vian Avenue.

The officers walked to the vehicle, the car then went backed up and the officers had to jump out of the way, according to police. The car headed east on Broadway. A description of the car was  sent out and a short time later the Lynbrook Police Department said the vehicle had struck a telephone pole at the intersection of Centre Street and Denton Avenue in Lynbrook and the occupants fled on foot.

With the help of the county’s canine unit, the two people were found and arrested. A Nassau police officer was taken to a local hospital and treated for a knee injury, police said.
