Freeport's winter wonderland of Christmas trees

Posted

The Freeport Recreation Center, FRC, launched its fifth annual Festival of Trees with a stunning Tree Trimming Party to benefit the Toys for Freeport Tots, the annual toy giveaway, on Nov. 25. The event welcomed a number of community businesses, nonprofit organizations as well as the Freeport Fire and Police departments.

The event is also a contest with a $50 participation fee and raised $1000; all of the donations will go to support Toys for Freeport Tots foundation.

During the event, participants assembled and decorated their Christmas trees to their holiday liking or a reflection of the group they represented in the Recreation’s lobby.

“The Recreation Center looks merry and bright,” Victoria Dinielli, manager of the FRC said.

The FRC is also decorated in time for Santa Claus and Frosty the Snowman’s arrival on Dec. 8 at 6 p.m., when the outdoor Christmas tree will also be lit. Members of the community will have a chance to visit the FRC to view the trees and vote for their favorite starting on Dec. 8. The voting will be underway through Dec. 23, with the winner announced on Christmas Eve.
