Giving back to heroes in West Hempstead

Posted

West Hempstead High School donated $920 raised through their Field of Honor to Homes for Heroes on Dec. 8.

The Field of Honor was made up of American flags, which were sponsored by members of the community. Homes for Heroes provide ways for active and retired military personnel, first responders, medical professionals and teachers to save on the purchase of a home. The organization boasts the largest nationwide network of real estate, mortgage and local business specialists.

“We are honored to collect money every year through the Field of Honor,” said West Hempstead High Principal James DeTommaso in a news release. “Homes for Heroes gives directly to those who serve others, and we are proud to present them with the money donated by our gracious community.”
