Police investigating hit and run in West Hempstead

Police are investigating a hit and run on July 23 at around 10 p.m. in West Hempstead where a driver allegedly struck a 14-year-old male.

According to detectives, the teen was walking east on Eagle Avenue and crossed over Cleveland Street where he was struck by a vehicle, which was described as a light colored four-door sedan. The driver of the vehicle never stopped to show identification or assist the victim, and it was last seen making a right onto Cleveland Street heading south. The victim suffered a broken leg and was transported in an ambulance to a local hospital.
