Teen burglar arrested again for crimes in West Hempstead

The Fifth Squad reported the arrest of Juziah Douglas for a burglary that occurred in West Hempstead last Thursday.

According to detectives, on Sept. 29, a male subject entered a Maren Street, West Hempstead home removed a set of car keys and took a 2004 GMC Envoy that was parked in the driveway. The subject struck a parked vehicle as he was backing out of the driveway; exited the truck and left the scene on foot.

On Oct. 12, a male subject entered the same residence on Maren Street stole the keys to the same 2004 GMC Envoy; backed it out of the driveway and stuck a vehicle parked across the street. The subject exited the truck and fled the scene on foot.

Last Thursday, at 6:50 p.m., officers responded to a call for a larceny from an automobile on Lenox Drive in Lakeview. The victim stated that a male subject entered his F150 truck and removed keys to his GMC Envoy, a key fob and several credit cards in the victim’s name. The same subject entered the victim’s 2004 GMC Envoy and took a Macys’ credit card, a Citibank debit card and personal papers. At 7:13 p.m., a call was received for a male subject who had entered a Nissan Pathfinder parked on Oakford Street in West Hempstead and stolen a pocketbook containing U.S. currency, several credit cards and two Nissan key fobs. Officers searched the area and located a subject on Woodfield Road and Laurel Court. After an investigation, Douglas, 16, of 375 Oakford Street, was placed under arrest. Subsequent to the arrest, the above-mentioned credit cards, truck keys, two Nissan key fobs and a gravity knife were found in Douglas’s possession. It was discovered that Douglas was also responsible for the Sept. 29 and Oct. 12 burglaries.

Douglas is being charged with four counts of burglary, grand larceny, two counts of grand larceny, two counts of unauthorized use of a vehicle, criminal possession of a weapon, criminal trespass, possession of burglary tools, three counts of leaving the scene of an incident and unlicensed operator. He was arraigned on Oct. 27 at First District Court in Hempstead.
