Cipriano Nursery offers fall fun for the whole family

Cipriano Nursery and Florist, on Front Street in East Meadow, has become an autumn getaway this season for guests who want to paint pumpkins, decorate for Halloween with harvest plants and flowers or just take a stroll through its garden center.

Every weekend, the nursery offers pumpkin painting on Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. On Halloween, guests could paint with Wanda the Witch and come dressed up for a chance to earn prizes during a costume contest.

“It’s also nice to see parents come with their kids for the pumpkin painting, especially grandparents,” said Maria Cipriano, the nursery’s manager.

Then, in November, it will swap out pumpkin painting for making cornhusk dolls. Guests will read and learn about them when they make their own.

The garden center offers a variety of different fall plants and vegetables, festive decorations and other gardening essentials. “Anyone is welcome to come, walk around and look at the flowers,” Cipriano said. “Some costumers have come here to just walk around and feel like they’re on vacation somewhere."
