Former St. Agnes music director, of Freeport, pleads guilty to child porn charges

Freeporter Michael Wustrow, 56, the former co-director of music at St. Agnes Cathedral in Rockville Centre, pleaded guilty to child pornography charges on Thursday, prosecutors said. Wustrow faces up to 20 years in prison when he is sentenced. He was arrested on Feb. 20 and has been in jail since.

Among the images in Wustrow’s possession was a photograph of a toddler being abused by an adult male, which he received from the messaging app Kik.  Through the app, Wustrow also said he was able to have sexual contact with an underage teenage boy and said he wanted to sexually abuse a 12- or 13-year-old boy.

“The Eastern District will continue to bring to justice those like Wustrow who contribute to the victimization of innocent children,” said United States Attorney Richard Donoghue.

The Diocese of Rockville Centre removed Wustrow from his position in September 2017 after it learned of a federal investigation regarding possible charges of child exploitation, the diocese had said in a statement that month.
