LIHBA food drive targets food-insecure communities

The Long Island Hispanic Bar Association recently held its annual food drive.

Thanks to generous donations from LIHBA members and Sullivan, Papain, Block, McGrath, Coffinas & Cannavo, P.C., Bower Law, P.C., the families at Twin Oaks Country Day School, Sunshine Research Inc., and Big Apple Research, Inc., LIHBA collected food and more $3,700 in cash donations, which were used to purchase supermarket gift cards.

LIHBA donated the food and gift cards to community partners, including the Hempstead Hispanic Civic Association, Circulo de la Hispanidad, Pentecostal de Hempstead De Las Asamblea de Dios, Pronto and Sepa Mujer.

LIHBA President Liza Milgrim, a Merrick resident and partner at SPBMCC, said the drive was one of the most successful for the association. Milgrim recently gathered with fellow LIHBA members to donate food to the Hempstead Hispanic Civic Association.
