Police arrest 10 people for ‘large disturbance’ in Baldwin

Four officers sustain minor injuries

Four Nassau County police officers were injured Sunday night when they responded to a call for a large disturbance on Dean Drive in Baldwin.

The disturbance escalated at around 10 p.m., police said, and officers arrested multiple people. Four officers sustained minor injuries, “none of which are serious,” police added.

When police arrived at the intersection of Dean Drive and Shell Street, they observed about 20 people in the street smashing glass bottles and playing loud music, officers said. As police attempted to make arrests, some people became violent and punched officers.

Multiple people “violently resisted arrest,” police said, and 10 people were placed into custody.

Furnie Oden III, 63, of Baldwin, was charged with second-degree assault, first-degree riot and second-degree obstructing governmental administration. Furnie Oden IV, 39, of Baldwin, was charged with the same. Furnie Oden V, 18, of Baldwin, was charged with second-degree assault, third-degree attempted robbery, first-degree riot, resisting arrest and second-degree obstructing governmental administration.

Jaquan Oden, 26, of Baldwin, was charged with two counts of second-degree assault, first-degree riot, resisting arrest and disorderly conduct. Kiyon Oden, 21, of Baldwin, was charged with two counts of second-degree assault, first-degree riot and resisting arrest.

Quinteze Tyriek Howell, 22, of Brooklyn, was charged with second-degree assault, first-degree riot, resisting arrest and disorderly conduct. Dasaun Damian Young, 24, of Binghamton, was charged with second-degree assault, first-degree riot, second-degree obstructing governmental administration and second-degree unlawful possession of marijuana.

Danny Ashley, 20, of Baldwin, was charged with second-degree assault, first-degree riot and second-degree obstructing governmental administration. Alfredo Delsol Lyde, 20, of Hempstead, was charged with second-degree assault, first-degree riot and second-degree obstructing governmental administration.

Jahnay Drumgoal, 31, of Hempstead, was charged with second-degree assault, first-degree riot and disorderly conduct.

The defendants were set to be arraigned on Tuesday in Mineola as of press time Monday.
