Clerk at 7-Eleven in Hewlett allegedly attacked by two men

Police are investigating an alleged robbery and attack of a clerk that took place at the 7-Eleven on Mill Road in Hewlett.

The alleged incident took place at 9:55 a.m. on July 1, when a man described by police as white and in his 50s entered the store without a mask or face covering on. He tried to make a purchase but was told by a clerk that he couldn't make a purchase without a mask on.

According to Nassau County police, the man then tried to leave the store with a cup of coffee that he didn't pay for and the clerk tried to stop him from leaving. The man then grabbed the clerk by the throat and pushed him outside.

While the man was allegedly choking the clerk, a second man that police described as white and roughly 22-years-old, allegedly got out of a gray Jeep and threw the clerk to the ground. Both men then fled in the Jeep.
