Celebrating Dance
Hofstra’s Dance Program celebrates its silver anniversary with a fall dance concert reuniting some of its most successful alumni – now professional dancers. They’ll perform with their own dance companies and also choreograph sections of the performance for Hofstra dance students. These returning star alumni include Dina Denis, class of 2002; Larry Keigwin, class of 1993; Salvatore LaRussa, class of 2000; and Makeda Thomas, class of 1999.
Thursday through Saturday, Nov.19-21, 8 p.m.; Sunday, Nov. 22, 2 p.m. $12, $10 seniors. Hofstra University’s John Cranford Adams Playhouse, South Campus, Hempstead. (516) 463-6644.

Dance Performance

Remember Me
Parsons Dance and the East Village Opera Company visit Tilles Center with their critically-acclaimed piece, which premiered to sold-out audiences at Manhattan's Joyce Theater last January. Choreographed and directed for the stage by David Parsons, Remember Me is a high-energy mix of contemporary American dance, opera and rock music, with costumes by New York City-based fashion designer Austin Scarlett (who competed in the first season of Project Runway). Remember Me is a thoroughly modern re-telling of a classic story of tragic love.
Saturday, Nov. 21, 8 p.m. $55, $40, $25. Tilles Center for the Performing Arts, Rte. 25A, Brookville. (516) 299-3100 or (800) 745-3000 or www.ticketmaster.com.

Family Fun

Icky, Sticky Adventures
Families looking for something out of the ordinary might want to venture to Brooklyn Children’s Museum for its second annual “Icky Fest.” The “Icky Fest” involves a variety of downright disgusting science-based activities: creating sticky slime, dissecting owl pellets, creating mud mask facials, watching a 20-foot-long python eat lunch, and more. There actually is a purpose to this madness. The program is designed to educate children about naturally occurring events that are usually considered gross, but have important function in the life cycle.
Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 21-22, 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Brooklyn Children’s Museum, 145 Brooklyn Ave. (at St. Marks Ave.), Brooklyn. (718) 735-4400 or www.brooklynkids.org.
