While attempting to arrest a woman for an outstanding Nassau County warrant for a previous grand larceny, one Nassau police officer was injured as Latoya Dancy was “violent and combative while resisting arrest,” according to police.

Dancy, 49, described as homeless by police, was taken into custody at 1:25 a.m. on Dec. 3 in Elmont. The police officer was taken to an area hospital for treatment of her injuries.

She is charged with assault in addition to the warrant charges of grand larceny, and resisting arrest.

Dancy pleaded not guilty. The Legal Aid Society of Nassau County is representing her.  Her next court date is Dec. 5.
