The Oceanside Fire Department hosted its first awards ceremony since before the pandemic, honoring dozens of firefighters for their heroic actions in life-threatening emergencies over the past year. Firefighters were recognized for saving lives in severe fires, vehicle extrications, and even a choking victim, as well as for their unwavering commitment to protecting one another.

Oceanside Community Service continued its decades-long tradition of giving with its annual Turkey Shoot at Oceanside High School on Nov. 26, providing Thanksgiving meals to over 87 families in need. Partnering with the high school’s student government, volunteers prepared and delivered food baskets totaling 8,000 to 10,000 pounds, including turkeys, produce, and holiday staples.
