Christopher Loche, 49, of Amityville, died on March 25 due to complications from the coronavirus.

He was a member and former-Captain of Truck Co. #1 for the Freeport Fire Department. He was also a member of the Dead End Kids Tournament Team, former Fire Council warden, and executive secretary for Fire Council for the Freeport Fire Department. He worked as a sales executive for Underwriters Laboratories.

Loche was the devoted father of Ryan, 20, and Kaitlyn, 16, loving companion of Meredith Meyka and dear brother of Richard and Tom.

Loche first felt sick in mid-March when he contracted the COVID-19 virus. Although he showed signs of improvement, he soon ended up at a nearby hospital in critical condition, where he later died.

Loche was a single father, which leaves his two children to handle their family’s mortgage payment and bills. The family has set up a GoFundMe page to help ease their burden. As of the time of press, the page has raised about $75,000.

A memorial service for Loche will be held at a later date. Interment was at St. Charles Cemetery, in East Farmingdale.
