Village of Island Park recognizes veterans

The Village of Island Park’s annual Veterans Day remembrance ceremony hosted by the American Legion Auxiliary Post 1029 was held Nov. 11 at 11 a.m. with about 100 people in attendance. 

Veterans Coordinator Robert Wilson served as the master of ceremonies for  the gathering, which was attended by Island Park Mayor Michael McGinty, Hempstead Town Councilman Anthony D’Esposito, village Trustees Barbara Volpe-Ried and Michael Gagliardi, Village Justice Jeffrey Kuhlman, Deputy Mayor Joseph Annarella, Post Commander Pat Martin, Purple Heart recipient Martin Rizzo, and a dozen Auxiliary members.

Members of the color guard of the Village of Island Park’s Fire Department held their heads down and with respect as the crowd recited the Pledge of Alliance.
