First big snow no big deal in Oyster Bay and Bayville

Posted

While most school districts within the Herald Community Newspapers coverage area closed, including Oyster Bay-East Norwich and Locust Valley on Friday because of snow, a handful — including Baldwin, Freeport and Malverne — switched to remote learning.

Oyster Bay got hit with between 7 and 12 inches, depending on where residents lived. Denise Trezza said the snow was manageable and pretty.

“It’s light and fluffy,” she said. “We shoveled out our driveway in no time at all.”

Bayville’s snow accumulation is between 4 to 5 inches. John Taylor said it isn’t bad.

“It’s heavy but pretty,” he said. “I haven’t been out yet so I don’t know how the roads are.”
