Time to start thinking of summer — Oyster Bay beach parking sticker sale begins May 16

Posted

Seasonal beach parking sticker sales will begin on May 16, one week later than was originally scheduled by the Town of Oyster Bay.

In recent days, the town has restricted beach access to residents’ only and enhanced safety measures with new signage and pedestrian barriers.

Beach parking stickers will be on sale daily beginning May 16 from 10 a.m. to

2 p.m., at Tobay Beach, Philip B. Healey Beach at Florence Avenue in Massapequa, Tappen Beach in Glenwood Landing, Theodore Roosevelt Memorial Park and Beach in Oyster Bay, and John J. Burns Town Park in Massapequa (beginning May 18).

To purchase a beach-parking sticker, residents must present their vehicle registration and bring the vehicle that they plan to drive to the beach, since parking stickers are placed on the vehicle at the time of purchase.

Only residents may purchase beach-parking stickers for Town of Oyster Bay beaches. Seasonal parking stickers are $60, which pays for itself following three
visits.

The Department of Parks will no longer be issuing seasonal beach parking
stickers to those who hold a Beach Identification Card, regardless of whether one is a senior citizen, a disabled person or on social security disability. Instead, each time the individual enters a town beach facility; they will be issued a free daily pass upon presenting a beach identification. The cardholder must be in the vehicle when entering
the premises.

Residents aged 60 and up qualify for a Senior Beach ID at the Town Clerk's Office for a one-time fee of $32. Additionally, volunteer firefighters, U.S. Coast Guard members, Armed Forces service members and veterans qualify for seasonal beach passes at reduced rates.

“By purchasing a beach sticker in advance, residents can avoid the inevitable lines that often accompany the start of the beach season and spend more time with their feet in the sand instead,” said Town of Oyster Bay Supervisor Joseph Saladino. “We ask residents to follow the advice of health professionals and keep their family safe by socially distancing from others while at the beach and by utilizing face coverings if you're unable to keep a safe distance from others."
