South Side High School’s girls’ soccer coaching saga took yet another turn on Monday when the Board of Education accepted the resignation of the team’s new coach, Jude Massillon, after just one week. In his resignation letter to the board, Massillon, who is Black, said he received numerous anonymous phone calls, many of which were “racially derogatory.”
Rockville Centre has hosted a ceremony to commemorate the events of Sept. 11, 2001, every year since the terrorist attacks, but organizers are planning an even more special ceremony this year to mark the 20th anniversary.

The Rockville Centre Board of Education accepted the resignation of Superintendent June Chang at its Aug. 25 meeting. Chang announced his decision to step down in a letter to the board on Aug. 11, just over a year after he signed a five-year contract to serve as superintendent. His resignation will become effective May 11, 2022, and until then, the board will search for his replacement.

Thomas Christian Yannelli died on Aug. 18, peacefully at home in his sleep, surrounded by his loving family. A loving husband, devoted father of two, and beloved friend to too many to count, he was 47 years old.
