Fireworks dazzle at annual event in Rockville Centre

Residents arrived at Mill River Park in droves for the Village of Rockville Centre’s 26th annual fireworks show on July 13.

South Shore Symphony Orchestra performed accompanying music as the sky lit up with sparkle and color. Molloy College students also sang during the event. This year’s musical performance was dedicated to the memory of former Mayor Eugene J. Murray, who served from 1987 to 2007, and died this year.

Families, friends and neighbors also enjoyed tasty bites from food trucks as they laid down on their blankets, or took a seat in their lawn chairs, and enjoyed the evening.

The annual fireworks concert celebrates the village’s birthday. This tradition began in 1993 in honor of the 100th anniversary of its founding. Grucci Fireworks presents the fireworks display, and the Rockville Centre Guild for the Arts and South Shore Symphony sponsors the musical performance.
