Eating, shopping and rocking in downtown Rockville Centre

The Rockville Centre Chamber of Commerce held another successful EAT.SHOP.ROCK street fair last Saturday.

This year’s street fair was the most successful ESR to date, with a larger crowd then ever. The Rockville Centre Police Department estimated that there were hundreds of visitors during the course of the day.

The fair is a chance to showcase Rockville Centre businesses, and the day’s gorgeous weather only helped. People from all over came out to walk up and down South Park Avenue and sample food from restaurants, browse goods from stores and see what other businesses in the village have to offer.

ESR is also a fundraiser, and this year was also great in that regard. Though the final numbers are still being tallied, Chamber of Commerce President Greg Schaefer said that this year’s fair raised at least $3,000 for scholarships the chamber awards and at least another $2,000 to be donated to the Tommy Brull Foundation to help construct a handicap-accessible playground on Sunrise Highway.
