With rising cases of Covid-19 across Long Island, Bonbino's Pizza owners Nick and John Milano organized a visit from the "Vaxmobile" to the Rockville Centre shop, where booster shots were administered by Mount Sinai South Nassau staff.

As health officials and elected officials encourage everyone to get fully vaccinated amid the rise in Covid-19 cases due to the emergence of the omnicron variant, the Milanos brought in MSSN to administer booster shots to their employees on Monday afternoon. Experts say getting boosted is a critical step toward protecting oneself against the highly contagious variant.

Nick Milano said his brother, John, had a tough battle with Covid-19 earlier this year and ended up in the hospital, and he wanted to ensure the safety of his staff and customers so that they wouldn't have to deal with a similar issue.

"They did a great job," he said of MSSN staff. "We have a good relationship with them. We're doing it because these employees have been here for a long time working for us and they've become like family to us. It makes us feel better that customers come into a location like this, everybody has [vaccination] cards and we're all wearing masks, but we did this for extra protection."

Milano said about 20 of his employees received the booster dose, and that he was grateful for the efforts of the hospital.

"We have a good relationship with them," he said. "We always do the right thing by them and they do the right thing by us."
