Snowstorm hits Rockville Centre

Posted

For the third time in as many weeks, Rockville Centre was hit with a snowstorm Thursday, with 4 to 5 inches of snow falling during the day. The weather was mild enough by late afternoon that children were able to enjoy it, as many were out sledding at Tighe Field. The snow turned to a light freezing drizzle by 7 p.m.

The National Weather Service projected that another inch could fall between Thursday night and Friday, with windchill values between 20 and 30. A winter weather advisory reamins in effect until 7 p.m. Friday.

Department of Public Works employees were out plowing the streets, as local schools remained close amid winter recess.
