South Side High School graduation set for June 25

South Side High School will conduct its 130th commencement ceremony on June 25 at 9 a.m. at Hofstra’s James M. Shuart Stadium.

Ethan Steere will deliver the valedictory address, while Sofia Romanello will provide the salutatory speech.

The officers of the senior class of 2021 include President Emilio Grillo, Vice President Sofia Romanello, Secretary Jenelle Melendez and Treasurer Sydney Brancaccio.

The officers of the Student Government include President Skylar DeLuca, First Vice President Caitlin Espiritu, Second Vice President Madeline Wolfrom, Treasurer Ashlynn Beauge and Secretary Brady Bender. Marcy Pedone serves as the advisor.

The Laurel Awards, which are presented annually to the senior students who have been most involved in extra-curricular activities during their high school career, will be presented this year at graduation.  In addition, the recipients of the Richard S. Byers School Community Service Award and the PTA South Side Strong Centennial Award will be announced.  Additional awards will be presented to members of the class of 2021 at the Varsity “S” Ceremony on June 15, and were given at the Senior Awards Assembly on June 1 and 7.

SSHS Principal John Murphy will present the class of 2021 to the members of the Board of Education for their diplomas. Board of Education Trustee Tara Hackett will address the audience.
