Malverne’s Centennial Committee is excited for the fall season as the group has several events planned for the coming weeks.

On Saturday, the village will kick off its Centennial Event Series at Whelan Field with numerous family-friendly fun and games that include cornhole and horseshoe tournaments, potato sack races, tug of war, kickball, dunk tank, pie baking contest and more. From 1 to 6 p.m., the village’s Centennial Family Picnic is also expected to feature live bands, delicious food, craft beer, wine and other refreshments available to purchase.

“It’s really a happy time for this village to celebrate our amazing history,” said Malverne Mayor Keith Corbett.

In conjunction with the Chamber of Commerce, the Centennial Float Parade and the chamber’s 28th Annual Fall Festival & Classic Car Show will take place in downtown Malverne on Oct. 3, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. The event will also showcase live bands and entertainment, outdoor dining, street vendors, inflatable rides, a train ride and a pumpkin patch for children. The parade will march down Hempstead Avenue to Church Street.

Each of the floats in the parade will recognize different groups in the village.
