Baldwin Chamber donates to St. Christopher's pantry

The Baldwin Chamber of Commerce recently donated $600 in gift cards to the St. Christopher’s Parish food pantry.

The Chamber sold 80 “Baldwin Strong” lawn signs — seen around town — and collected the proceeds to donate to the pantry in the form of gift cards purchased from Chamber restaurant members.

“We were able to help our restaurant members who have been suffering during this difficult time, as well as help the less fortunate who count on the food pantry to feed their families,” Chamber members said on Facebook. “Thank you again to all of the residents who purchased lawn signs, as you are a part of this generous donation.”

The pantry, coordinated by Outreach Director Julia Santiago and located at 11 Gave Ave., is open every Tuesday from 12 to 3 p.m.

The facility typically offers frozen meals and nonperishable food items as well as clothes, shoes, feminine hygiene products, diapers and other items that people cannot usually buy with food stamps.
