Former Oceanside resident Elaine Brady dies at 81

Former Oceanside and Queensbury, N.Y. Resident Elaine M. Brady died on Dec. 18 surrounded by family in a Fort Hudson nursing facility. She was 81.

Born to Harold and Louise Smith in Brooklyn, Elaine went on to wed James Brady, to whom she was married for 50 years before his death in 2005. Loved ones described Elaine as never being wrong, and having a legendary adeptness at wooden spoon discipline.

Brady is survived by her children, James (Marisa), Russell (Ruthanne), Scott (Lucy), Gary (Kathy), Bobby (Tammy), Tom (Lori) and Susan (Richard); her 26 grandchildren; her four great-grandchildren; her sister, Janet (Donald); and her brother, Ken (Linda).

In lieu of flowers, her family requested that readers play Kenny Rogers music and spend quality time with their families.
