Seaford Brownie troop to hold winter coat drive

Brownie Troop 3418 in Seaford is working hard to help keep others warm this winter by collecting adult and children's coats. The Brownie troop is asking people to stop by Fun Stuff Toys at 3639 Merrick Rd., in Seaford on Dec. 11 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. to donate.

Another way to donate is by visiting the link below to help the troop raise money for the Warm Coat Foundation. Just one dollar will help keep someone warm this winter.

Scouts who participated were Chloe Carter, Guilianna Leahy, Michaela Diasparra, Katerina Kambouris, Maeve Carloni, Grace Martino, Ruby Tischler, Charlotte Clarke, Jocelyn Conway, Abigail Johnson, Emerson Hutchinson, Isabel Adams and Kaityln Whitton.

The mission of One Warm Coat is to provide free coats to children and adults in need while promoting volunteerism and environmental sustainability. Founded in 1992, the organization has worked with volunteers to host more than 40,000 coat drives and has given away 6.9 million coats across the United States. The California-based organization t is a United States-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.

Last winter, when the need for coats was even greater due to the Covid-19 pandemic, more than 1,800 individuals, organizations schools and groups held coat drives despite there being obstacles. Because of the commitment of One Warm Coat’s Ambassadors, donors, nonprofit partners, and sponsors, more than 260,000 children and adults received free coats.
