Two arrested for attempted murder in Freeport

Nassau County Police Department’s First Squad Detectives arrested two men for an attempted murder case that took place on Oct. 27, in Freeport. 

According to the detectives, Freeport Police officers were responding to a call about an assault in progress on N. Long Beach Road at 4:35 p.m., when shots were reported. Upon arrival, the officers spoke with a witness who said a male suspect had attacked a male victim with a machete as the second suspect fired multiple gunshots at the victim.  

Officers canvassing the area found both suspects and observed them throwing objects over a fence on S. Berger Street. As the officers approached the suspects, the two men began fleeing on foot. The officers apprehended them and placed them into custody. The officers investigated the fence by S. Berger Street and found a large machete and loaded handgun. 

The victim was located a short while later with severe cuts to his right arm. 

The suspects were identified as Abrram Rodriguez, 19, of Freeport, and Alvin Tineo, 20, of Jersey City. 

Rodriguez was charged with attempted murder, assault, criminal use of a firearm and two counts of criminal possession of a weapon. 

Tineo was charged with also charged with attempted murder and assault, as well as possession of a dangerous weapon. 

Both men were arraigned on Oct. 28, in Mineola.
