More than 50 young athletes took to the field at Wantagh High School on Jan. 25 for a flag football clinic hosted by Wantagh Nation Flag Football. The event aimed to foster teamwork, fitness, and sportsmanship among children in kindergarten through eighth grade.
The clinic was led by high school varsity flag football coaches from Long Island, offering participants expert guidance and skill development. Organizers Dan, Scott, and Joe founded Wantagh Nation Flag Football as a nonprofit organization.
The winter clinic, spanning four weeks, saw enthusiastic participation, with each child receiving a Wantagh Nation sweatshirt and hands-on training from a team of varsity coaches and assistant coaches—many of whom are part of the Long Island Champion Wantagh High School football team.
With the winter session wrapping up, Wantagh Nation is already preparing for its next programs. In April, a spring clinic will provide professional training and competitive games for young athletes, with registration details available soon on their website, WantaghNation.com, and Instagram @wantaghnation.
Looking ahead to June, Wantagh Nation will host the inaugural “Battle of Nations” tournament, the first of its kind on Long Island. The event will bring together teams from across Nassau and Suffolk counties, featuring multiple age divisions for boys and girls. A highlight of the tournament will be the Varsity High School Division, where top-tier teams will compete, providing younger players a chance to watch and learn from elite athletes.
