Boy Scout Troop 20 in Hewlett joined with members of Malverne American Legion Post 44 for a first merit badge class on April 13. Scouts filled Post 44 to receive some hands on training on how to provide first aid for those in need.
Troop 5414 Scoutmaster and Eagle Scout Bryan Frayne, of Staten Island, led the class and taught scouts about triage, tourniquets, universal precautions and how to treat shock and heart attacks, including a hands-on lesson on how to perform the Heimlich maneuver and CPR.
