A summer symphony in Malverne

Posted

After a decade-long hiatus away from the village, the Nassau Pops Symphony Orchestra made their return to the Village of Malverne last Sunday. The Nassau Pops performed in front of residents at Chester A. Reese Veterans Memorial Park and played hits from Duke Ellington, “Syncopated Clock” by Leroy Anderson, “American in Paris” by George Gershwin, and songs from the musical, “Hello, Dolly!”
The event — which was sponsored by the Malverne Civic Association, the Malverne Chamber of Commerce, Northwell Health’s Long Island Jewish Valley Stream Hospital, the village’s Board of Trustees, and Malvernite Joann Zappa — also featured guest vocalists Timothy Conway and Melanie Lipton, who performed selections from the musical, “Oklahoma!”
